In DisDress

After trying on every dress in Eastern Washington, I got this dress at Kohl's. It was very cute. Until I wore it to church on Sunday and my G's kept peeking out the bottom. Very annoying problem. So I bought some capri-tights to wear with it the next time, but it felt like I was wearing pants. Then I had to take it back.

I continued my quest for a modest (reasonably priced) dress online and found this pretty number.

But I accidentally ordered this...
Which would've been fine because it's cute, only it came with no sleeves. In the picture it clearly has cap sleeves. I called customer service and asked where the sleeves were. Turns out that "the product pictured may be different than the actual product." Huh? It's like ordering a dress and receiving a toaster. I have religious issues, I need sleeves! Is that so hard to ask?

If you know a good place to get a modest dress let me know. Preferably a dress that I won't have to wear a cardigan over, or shirt under, and definitely not a dress that turns out to be a kitchen appliance. Thanks.

Strawberry River

I thought that these videos were kinda funny. The strawberry is bigger than both of River's hands and she was eating it like an apple. Looks scrumptious, doesn't it? I also love how River is kicked back, got her feet up on the counter and is enjoying a lazy morning in her pj's.

A Few Firsts

River got her first big owie yesterday. She tripped off a tiny 2 inch cement step and caught herself with her head. I felt so bad, she got two big bumps and a couple of scrapes. She recovered quickly, and was soon back to her smiling self.

River was invited to her first birthday party. I'm pretty sure she accepted just for the cupcakes and juice.

I love this next picture because Olivia and River have the same look on their faces. Mainly, "Mom, why are we out here on the wet grass when the party is inside?"

Also, we had our first day over 70 degrees this week! Pretty amazing, eh?

A Day in the Life Of

Cameron has finally turned in his thesis paper! It has been wonderful because we have had unprecedented family time together this whole week. We are trying to make the most of it while we can. ( Cameron still has to prepare for his defence on the 16th) We took River on her first trip bowling. She actually got a strike and a better score than Cameron. (thank you bumpers!)

She did great. Other than when she tried to run down the lane after the bowling ball.... repeatedly...
and Cameron had to chase after her.

We also went to the library and picked out some good books. Cameron has much better story voices than I do. River loves to read. Sometimes she'll want to read for 40 minutes straight, but we get sick of reading 'Fox in Socks' and 'Chicka-
Chicka Boom Boom' over and over again.

And we made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and coconut macaroons. River even helped.

Don't worry, the dough doesn't have raw eggs in it!
Hope your week has been as good as ours!

Ty and Melanie Are Engaged! Wahoo!

Sing-a-ling

We took this video right after church on Sunday, we don't usually dress River in a matching shirt and under-roo's, a dress was over the top of 'em. It also explaines my pajama pants and lacey shirt combo. Oh, and the toy chaos, because everyone knows you're not supposed to do housework on Sunday.

Thanks, Mom, for the adorable pictures of River. There are more cute poses that everyone will be getting when I mail out Cameron's graduation announcements. You'll just have to wait, sorry!

River 'reading' to herself while I catch some shut-eye on the couch. I guess Cameron thought he would be sneaky and get some secret footage.

Crochet, Food Edition

After crocheting a plastic bag holder (boring) I've been wanting to do some creative crochet. To get some ideas I've been surfing free pattern sites. I must have been hungry at the time because food patterns seemed like a perfect new project, but what can you really do with a yarn hot dog? People. The good news is that anything can be crocheted. Anything. Even adorable little cupcakes.

And mini apples. I really really want to make these....aren't they fabulous?! But I can't seem to justify it because I wouldn't actually use them for any specific purpose. Maybe River would play with them...

Or there is this delicious pattern. I'm sure it is just the thing the you've always wanted. A toast purse. And now you can crochet your very own! Looking at this is making me hungry. And reminding me of all the toast and spray -butter I during at college.

This next pattern may actually be useful.

Dressing up for the next Harry Potter film? These yarn radishes would be perfect to use for a Luna Lovegood costume, which isn't complete without her famous radish (or to be precise, dirigible plum) earrings. Though I think they are orange in the book.

And for the man in your life, fried-egg cuffs. This pattern comes for a great site called MonsterCrochet. It has wonderful patterns for things like a Golum hat and spooky severed fingers.

Thanks for tuning in.

Easter Fun

We went to a Easter party complete with egg-hunting, brunch and lots of excited kids. River managed to get 4 easter eggs before all the older kids snatched them up.

Cameron helped with the bob-for-donuts game, which was a big hit.

Later that day, my cousin Aaron and his girlfriend came out for a visit.
