Coeur d 'Alene Lake Trip

This weekend we drove to the ever gorgeous Lake Coeur d ' Alene. (pronounced core da lane) It is only a 30 minute drive to some of the best swimming and scenery in Idaho. River loved playing in the lake even though the water was really cold. She even found a stick floating past.
Our camera is dying on us, so this video has a weird pink cast to it, but that's okay. It looks kind of old and nostalgic, don't you think? After swimming to our hearts content, we went out for a hamburger and shake at Paul Bunyans. And River of course, ate at Mom's.
At the resort you can rent ski boats, paddle boats or kayaks.

Sno-cone hat. Isn't it cute?

The Half-Year Mark
River is 6 months old today, a half a year! Or according to Tolkien, halfsies. It's hard to believe that by Christmas she'll be wearing real shoes and toddling around. Being a parent is a lot more consuming than I anticipated. And it's not just time consuming. It's just plain consuming. And wonderful. Beyond wonderful. I am constantly amazed at how fast River learns and how sweet the love she shows us is. She is growing like crazy.
Some new exciting 6 month old things that River does....
1- sits up by herself
2- eats squash, rice cereal, sweet potatoes
3- grimaces at peas
4- crouches in crawling position and rocks back and forth ( she did crawl once, one hand out, then the knee...and promptly fell on her face)
5- talks to daddy, squeals, says "ah, gee" and "ba, ba, ba"
6- still spits bubbles, still razzes, still drools , and still burps (that's my girl!)
7- in attempt to crawl she scooches clear across the room
8- rolls and rolls
9- splashes in the tub...it's so adorable
10- and last but not least, has developed a strong sense of 'stranger danger'. don't feel bad if next time she sees you she lets out a terrified scream.
So, soon I'll have some videos up of River scooching and eating peas. You'll enjoy the peas video especially. Now, in commemoration of Rivers halfsies birthday a recap is in order.
As a married couple without children we hung out with friends and slept in on weekends. Ah, those were the days.
Bun in the oven about 4 months cooking, we moved to Washington with the help of Cams brother and holidayed in Seattle for a few days. At this point Cameron was convinced we were
going to have a boy and wouldn't let me try any of the delicious fresh coastal fish lest I consume too much mercury.
The first of January brought my parents up to Spokane, eager to meet their new grandbaby.
But they had to wait.
But they had to wait.
January 10, 2007, four days late, River came kicking and screaming.
Month 1: Real jeans!
Month 2: still fits in sink
Month 4: No picture avaliable. (they are all on my moms computer in Roosey town.)

Land of the Free
We celebrated America's birthday with Cameron's family in Tooele. We even faithfully attended the small-town parade, which includes enduring 100 degree weather and having salt-water taffys being chucked at our heads. It was fun.

Hooah!
