Wild momeraths on the loose...

River and I went on a lovely excursion to Liberty Park today. It's a 15 minute walk from our apartment, but when you arrive you feel as if you're in the woods. It was a beautiful day, and the first time River has had any real sun on that delicate skin of hers. I wish I could say she was excited to be outside and see the world, but she snoozed the whole time. I was torn between getting some good close-up pictures of the wild flowers and not letting go of Rivers stroller lest some stranger jump out of the bushes and snatch her. Being the diligent mother that I am, I held on to the stroller with one hand, held the camera in the other hand and squatted down as close to the flowers as I could get, never letting River out of my grasp. It's normal to be paranoid with your first baby, right? Right? Oh, and don't worry I didn't step on any momeraths.

If you chance to meet a frown, do not let it stay,

quickly turn it upside down and smile that frown away.

The goings on of some of the family for those of you who are interested. Blakers looking dashing at prom.

Ty in California for spring break. No fair!

Cousins Lauren and Savanah-banana rockin' out to an Ipod.

Street hockey.

How cute are these sleeping beauties? They both conked out after a grueling day of play.

Quaack, quaack

On our trip to Seattle last summer, before settling into life in Spokane, we took a tour of Seattle on a surf-and-turf duck. A cleverly converted WWII amphibious vehicle painted yellow and white, the duck can go straight from the road into the water. It was pretty nifty, even though our duck broke down in the middle of the Puget sound. While we were waiting to be rescued we saw some beautiful seals bobbing along nearby. Anyway, the 'captain' of our duck was a hoot. Her name tag read Helen Wheels, she was funny and feisty, sang silly songs and 'quacked' at passing vehicles. In the summer she drives tourists around on the duck and in the winter she fishes. She owns her own huge fishing boat, much like the ones you see on the discovery channel. She also has a huge thing for firemen. Whenever we passed a fire station she nearly had fits and immediately uttered 'quaaack, quaaack' in a very seductive voice. Joe and Jessica can back me up on this. Very strange. I think she drove by every firehouse in Seattle just to get a glimpse of a fireman. It was all very entertaining and I think of her every time I see Joe's new fire engine.(Joe is Cameron's brother, for those of you who don't know) His wife, Jessica, surprised him with his very own genuine firetruck for Christmas, ladder, hoses and all. Isn't it every mans dream to have their own fire engine so that admiring females can lean out their windows and quack at them?

All the kiddies love riding on the firetruck, it's like being in a parade whenever you want.

You all thought that this was a boring old baby blog, but it's not. No. This blog has fire engines and tricked out Bel-Airs. You heard me. Cameron and I were driving along minding our own business when outta nowhere a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air came rolling up. Normally I would have admired the car for its age, nice paint restoration, etc. However, this car was different. This car was special. This car had been equipped with a 4 inch lift kit. It was bouncing down the freeway like nobodies business. I nearly fell out of my seat with admiration. So here is a treat for you all...behold the Bel-Air.

And now, drumroll please, back to the babies. And fire engines.
We wanted to express how wonderful it was to be in Utah and see the wasatch mountains and family and friends for a week. We really appreciate everyone who was able to make it to River's blessing.

Grandma and Grandpa White prouldy holding their 18th grandchild.

Pictures of Tyrell, Alison and Grandma Hicken on the blessing day. Carolyn bought River's lovely dress and my mom crocheted the blanket. I don't think River could be much more spoiled. She doesn't mind.

BABY SWAP. Ali, me and Heather. I'm holding Haven, Heather and Tylers baby who is 6 days younger than River. They are going to be good pals.

I know I promised fire engines, but that will have to wait for another blog.

JAZZ baby

River playing with dad, her new weird development of sleeping propped up by her head on her side, and the sweet Jazz sweater given to her by her adoring uncle.

It may take Riv a few months to fit into this, but she's sure trying her best. Check out those chubby cheeks. Little chubb chubb.
